Crypto Knight, are a transatlantic duo formed by Dave Johnson and Tim Malugin. Dave Johnson hails from the UK and currently resides in Portugal after living 20 years in the USA. As a songwriter, musician, and producer Dave plays guitar, bass, and keyboards. Tim Malugin, on the other hand, is an American lyricist and vocalist residing in the Gulf Coast USA. The pair crossed paths during an online music course in 2021 and despite their diverse backgrounds, they discovered a shared love for similar bands. Their creative synergy sparked, and songs flowed effortlessly between them. Tim’s lyrics complement Dave’s music, resulting in a unique blend of influences. Crypto Knight’s music has been described as a combination of Art rock and Progressive Rock with a delightful retro feel. Their earlier tracks often told stories, with Dave providing the musical canvas and Tim adding thematic lyrics. More recent compositions touch on current affairs and explore various character types and traits.  They’ve been remarkably prolific, releasing three albums and 2 EPs in just two years, all available on the main streaming platforms. The band name, “Crypto Knight,” reflects their fusion of past and future, drawing inspiration from earlier rock and progressive rock bands while incorporating modern technology. Imagine a mix of Yes, The Who, The Stranglers, and Kraftwerk—all blended into their distinctive sound.
